Countdown to Orlando
So, it is less than 30 days until Orlando and I thought I would mark each day closer to my holiday with a reason why I love Orlando….
Reason 9: Disney at night has to be a reason to love Orlando. All the Disney parks and even the other parks including Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens have an incredible atmosphere at night - something we don’t have in the UK. Disney parks almost become a totally different park when the sun has set, the streets and rides are lit in bright, magical colours and the nighttime entertainment begins.
The Magic Kingdom tends to stay open until 12am when I visit in the summer, which is an incredible experience, 15 hours in a theme park is an achievement. The lasting moment walking out the Magic Kingdom as most other people have left is something I will never forget, so calm in comparison to the day time. A totally different experience at night!
21 days until Orlando!

Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Verbolten

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is gearing up for the debut of the new Verbolten roller coaster on May 18, releasing new video of the ride in action.

An official video of the coaster undergoing testing is embedded above. The park has also revealed further details of Verbolten’s plot, which is designed to offer significant “re-ride” value to guests.

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read on if you do not wish to know the plot of Verbolten in advance of riding it.

Verbolten’s ride building, which will contain a freefall drop element similar to that seen on Thirteen at Alton Towers, will feature three different sequences. One of these will be selected at random for each ride, encouraging guests to ride again to experience them all.

The three potential scenarios will be:

  • A lightning storm, in which special effects are used to recreate wind and thunder in the “dark forest”.
  • An encounter with the malevolent “Spirit of the Dark Forest”, which will lure guests in and then attempt to trap them.
  • A tribute to the former Big Bad Wolf roller coaster that once stood on the same site, with a pack of wolves chasing the train.

Busch Gardens - Verbolten Testing

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has begun test runs of Verbolten, the new multi-launch roller coaster that will open at the park on May 18, 2012.

Verbolten was caught on camera by a visitor to the park on April 21, with footage captured of the ride’s trains traversing several sections of its circuit. The trains can be seen racing around several outdoor elements, and being launched into the ride’s show building, which will contain a secretive set-piece.

Busch Gardens - Cheetah & Dog Friends
It may seem like an unlikely pair, but its been a year since Busch Gardens Tampa park guests got to see an 8-week-old male cheetah cub and 16-week-old female yellow labrador puppy play together. They were first snapped for the blogging world to see last April when I published the adorable pics on this very blog, and after a year Busch’s animal experts are expecting their friendship to last a lifetime.
The pair, who were later named Kasi (cheetah) and Mtani (dog), spent only supervised play times together at first. Now, a year later, they live together full time at the park’s Cheetah Run habitat and even travel together to schools, events and more as animal ambassadors.
Park guests can see Kasi and Mtani daily at Cheetah Run, where they spend a portion of each day playing together and training.
It is not really related to coasters or general theme park news, but it is stupidly adorable and amazing, so enjoy the snap!
