Disney World’s Epcot - Behind the Scenes at Test Track 2.0

The new test track at WDW’s Epcot has opened with major guest popularity, and Chevrolet has just released this brand new video showing off behind the scenes magic for the re-construction. Check it out!

Disney World’s Epcot - Test Track 2.0

It has been a week now since Test Track 2.0 was re-opened to staff members and soft openings to the public, and it was only a matter of time before we saw clips popping up on YouTube. The video above shows off a brief segment of the ride in action. The clip shows off what has been done to recreate the old Barrier Test room, that leads right into the start of the high speed outdoor track test. The video gives fans a good idea of the effects and the theme we can expect to see throughout the new ride when it opens in December.

Walt Disney World’s Epcot - Test Track 2.0 Part Two

Continuing from the first part next guests will be able to board their vehicles and test drive them. Throughout the ride, riders will experience changing terrain and extreme conditions as their designs are scored for capability, efficiency, responsiveness and power. Their design skills are put to the test, at speeds of up to 65 mph.

The excitement then continues into the post-show area where guests will be able to race their vehicles on a virtual driving table, create their own commercial and get to see new and concept Chevrolet vehicles in a showroom.

Test Track 2.0 officially opens on Dec. 6, 2012 but previews should begin shortly.

Walt Disney World’s Epcot - Test Track 2.0 Part 1

With the official opening of Disney World’s second version of the popular Test Track just under  a month away, more concept art of Test Track 2.0 has been released giving a closer look at the queue, ride and post-show of the attraction. Test Track 2.0 is presented by Chevrolet and will offer guests a three-part experience.

The experience will start in the ride’s queue where guests will be able to design their own vehicle; a car, truck or even a crossover. In the Design Center, guests will use design kiosks to try their hand at design magic. Here, they can virtually create their vehicle design by shape, length, width and engine size. Once they create the design of their dreams, guests complete their creation with even more choices.

Disney World’s Epcot - Test Track UPDATE

Yesterday Disney Parks Blog released some new snaps showing off the sample “SimCar” updated with the new Test Track overlay. It can now be viewed by guests outside the attraction at the nearby Cool Wash Station, while the reimagining of the attraction continues.

When Test Track reopens later this year, the attraction will allow guests to experience the fun and fascinating world of automotive design firsthand. Guests will first enter a Design Studio and make a series of selections (as an individual or a group) to create their ideal custom concept vehicle – they can even pick the color. Guests then board a six-passenger SimCar for a test drive, and see how their design compares to the SimCar in Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power.

Countdown to Orlando
So, it is less than 20 days until Orlando now and my countdown continues with reasons why I LOVE Orlando…
Reason 12: Epcot. I have to admit that when visited Epcot for the first time back in February 2011 I was sceptical about how good the park would be for my age bracket. However, Disney have managed to create an educational, inspirational and enjoyable theme park experience. The mix of thrill rides (test track, Soarin’, and Mission Space), educational experiences (including the entertaining Spaceship Earth), and the incredibly diverse and themed lands offer guests a packed day of fun.
Something I really enjoyed last time I visited was spending hours experiencing all the different lands, with their food, drink and history. In addition, when I visited last February it was the Flower & Garden Festival which has to be one of the most beautiful selection of topiaries I have ever seen. To top it all off, they offer Illuminations, the nighttime firework display which featured as an early reason to LOVE Orlando in my countdown.

Walt Disney World’s Epcot - Test Track Update

As part of last week’s “What’s New, What’s Next” presentation at Walt Disney World, Imagineers revealed a closer look at the new design that is coming to the updated version of Test Track. The new design will be presented by Chevrolett.

The new experiences in Test Track will begin in an interactive queue, filled with touch screens and displays that will allow guests to design their own vehicles based on four ride icons: capability, efficiency, responsiveness, and power. Guests selections will then be will be saved onto a card that guests will be handed, carrying with them onto the ride

The above renderings show a look that many have compared to “Disney’s Tron” films. Remember, the ride’s thrills and track layout will not change, only the thematic elements surrounding it. They definitely give a more futuristic look.

When complete, the reimagining of this attraction will allow guests to design their own custom concept vehicle, and then put it through its paces on the exhilarating hills and switchbacks of the Test Track circuit.

In the post-show, guests can make a TV commercial featuring their concept car or truck, race their car or truck on a virtual track and take a picture with their custom concept vehicle.
